I cannot believe that there are actually people who designed a road system that takes 10 to 12 lanes of traffic and funnels them down to 4 and then expects traffic to flow smoothly. AND it is not as if this happens once or twice – this happens A LOT! Anyone who has driven on the New Jersey Turnpike or the Baltimore beltway, or any of the toll roads on the east coast. How in the world is that system supposed to work?
You take a free flowing traffic pattern, split it up into toll booth lanes – manage to figure out that if someone has a EZ Pass they should go into a different lane so they don’t get held up by someone who is counting change and then you merge all those lanes back down – ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND! I happened to be a passenger when someone did this in the rain – I was shocked that no one was killed.
What happens during rush hour? Is this where road rage comes from — I think so!
